Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: North Manchester
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (dependent on experience)
About the Company
Our client is a growing main contractor based in North Manchester, with over 15 years’ experience delivering projects across the UK. Originally specialising in maintenance and insurance claim works, the business has successfully expanded into heritage and education sectors, with a strong pipeline of refurbishment schemes.
With a turnover of £15 million last year and plans for further growth, the company is now targeting larger, more complex projects, with values ranging from £10,000 up to £15 million.
The Role
Our client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor from a main contractor background to join their commercial team, reporting directly to the Commercial Manager.
This role will suit an established Quantity Surveyor seeking a new challenge within a growing business. You will play a key role in the commercial delivery of projects, ensuring cost control, value for money, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage the commercial aspects of construction projects from inception through to final account
*Prepare, review, and manage project budgets and cost plans
*Procure and manage subcontractor packages
*Monitor project costs and produce regular financial reports
*Identify and manage risks, variations, and value engineering opportunities
*Negotiate contracts and agreements with subcontractors and suppliers
*Work closely with operational teams to ensure successful project delivery
*Support the business in delivering larger, higher-value projects
Key Requirements
*Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
*Strong understanding of construction processes and commercial management
*Experience across refurbishment, maintenance, heritage, or education sectors (desirable)
*Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
*Strong negotiation and communication skills
*Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (experience with commercial software is beneficial)
