This is a high-impact freelance opportunity for a senior researcher to shape how a large organisation understands its customers, markets, and growth opportunities. You will lead commercial insight work that directly informs strategic decisions, with regular exposure to senior stakeholders and the chance to influence outcomes across products, channels, and audiences.

The Company
They are a well-established organisation with a strong focus on customer and market intelligence to drive commercial performance. Insight plays a central role in decision-making, with research embedded into strategic planning rather than operating as a support function. The Role and Deliverables
*Lead commercial and customer research across the Customer and Market Intelligence programme.

*Design and deliver qualitative and quantitative research to uncover customer behaviour and market dynamics.
*Synthesize findings into clear, commercially focused recommendations and actionable next steps.
*Present insights and strategic recommendations to Director-level stakeholders on a regular basis.
*Contribute to the ongoing optimisation of insight frameworks such as segmentation, journey mapping, or voice of customer.

Your Skills & Experience
*Strong experience as a hands-on senior researcher, operating without line management responsibility.
*Proven ability to connect research outputs to commercial outcomes and strategic decisions.
*Deep expertise in qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and experimentation.
*Confidence working with data using tools such as R or Python, SQL, and Excel, with the ability to interpret and synthesise results.
*Clear and compelling storytelling skills, particularly in executive-facing PowerPoint presentations.
*Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior leaders.
*Background or exposure to behavioural science, psychology, sociology, statistics, CX, user research, or market research is highly valued.
*Consulting or agency-side research experience is advantageous.
