Commercial Finance Director | £125,000 + Package | Future CFO (2-year succession plan) | North Lancashire | PE Backed

Axon Moore is pleased to be supporting a high growth, PE-backed business in North Lancashire. They’re looking for a commercially sharp Finance Director who wants to step into a genuine ’challenger CFO’ position. The plan is clear: work alongside an experienced CFO, learn the business and add strategic value, and then be ready to step up post-exit in c.2 years.

You’ll be the bridge between core finance, FP&A and the wider business — driving performance, challenging decisions, and helping shape the growth story ahead of exit.

The role:

*Commercial partnering with the CEO and senior leadership team
*Ownership of budgeting, forecasting and performance insight
*Leading on pricing, margin optimisation and strategic decision-making
*Supporting value creation initiatives in line with the PE agenda
*Playing a key role in preparing for exit
*Building credibility as the natural successor to the CFO

What we’re looking for:

*ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
*Proven experience in a PE-backed or high-growth environment
*Strong commercial instinct — someone who can influence, not just report
*Ambition to step into a CFO role in the near term
*Gravitas and presence to operate at board level

This will suit someone who’s probably already operating at FD level but feels a step away from the full CFO seat — and wants a clear, credible route to get there.
