Finance Assistant
Location: Felixstowe
Salary: £27,500 – £35,000 depending on experience and qualifications
Hours: Monday–Friday
Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-time 9-530 or 830-500pm OR Part time available Mon, Tues and Wed similar times
FULLY OFFICE BASED
We are working with a well-established and growing logistics business based in Felixstowe who are seeking a Finance Assistant to join their friendly and collaborative finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solid accounts experience who enjoys a varied role, added responsibility, and the opportunity to grow within a stable business. Part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will take ownership of key day-to-day finance processes while supporting wider reporting and analysis.
Sales Ledger Responsibilities
*Setting up new customer accounts
*Raising sales invoices and credit notes
*Monitoring credit limits
*Chasing outstanding debt
Purchase Ledger Responsibilities
*Processing supplier and subcontractor invoices
*Raising and posting credit notes
*Preparing and processing supplier payments
Core Finance Duties
*Daily bank reconciliations
*Processing weekly driver payroll using Sage 50 Payroll
*Monitoring fuel stock levels, obtaining quotes, and placing bulk orders
Reporting and Analysis
*Assisting with weekly and monthly reporting
*Analysing expenses and posting through accounting software
*Supporting VAT submissions, budgets, and cash forecasting
*Assisting with the year-end audit process
You will work closely with other members of the finance team, with support available where required.

About You
You will be organised, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a busy finance environment.
You will ideally have:
*Experience in a Finance Assistant or accounts-based role
*Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
*Confident communication and teamwork abilities
*Good analytical skills
*Passes in English and Maths
*Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
*Experience using Microsoft Office and accounting software
*Logistics or transport sector experience (desirable but not essential)
