Payroll Supervisor
Construction Industry | Permanent | Office-Based
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
We are working with a well-established construction business who are looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Supervisor on a permanent basis. This is a fully office-based role, working Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, overseeing a busy payroll function and managing a team of six.
This opportunity would suit a confident payroll professional with construction sector experience and strong knowledge of payroll systems such as CHIME or Donseed, who enjoys leading people and driving best practice.
The Role
As Payroll Supervisor, you will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery across the business. You’ll play a key role in supporting and developing the payroll team, acting as the main point of escalation and working closely with HR, Finance, and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead, manage, and support a team of 6 payroll professionals
*Oversee the full payroll cycle, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
*Act as an escalation point for complex payroll queries and issues
*Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, statutory payments, pensions, and construction industry requirements (including CIS where applicable)
*Maximise the use of payroll systems such as CHIME and/or Donseed, utilising system functionality to its full capability
*Review and authorise payroll outputs prior to submission
*Liaise with HR and Finance to ensure accurate payroll data for starters, leavers, changes, timesheets, and deductions
*Produce payroll reports, reconciliations, and management information
*Support process improvements and system enhancements
About You
*Proven experience in a Payroll Supervisor / Payroll Team Leader role
*Background in construction payroll (highly desirable)
*Strong working knowledge of payroll systems such as CHIME and/or Donseed
*Experience managing, motivating, and developing a payroll team
*Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance
*Highly organised, detail-focused, and confident working to deadlines
