Management Accountant / Assistant Financial Controller
Location: Southend-on-Sea (Hybrid options considered)

The Opportunity
A well-established UK business operating within a manufacturing and distribution is seeking a hands-on Management Accountant / Assistant Financial Controller to strengthen its finance function.
This is a step-up opportunity for a management accountant or cost-focused finance professional looking to broaden their exposure across financial control, costing, budgeting and systems, with direct visibility to senior leadership and an international group structure.
Key Responsibilities
*Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
*Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
*Producing management reports and dashboards, analysing variances
*Monitoring and analysing costs, margins and profitability
*Supporting cashflow forecasting and financial planning
*Preparing finance packs for senior management
*Working closely with operational teams to improve cost control
*Supporting ongoing ERP and reporting system improvements
*Acting as a key finance contact for day-to-day commercial queries
About You
*Degree qualified in Finance, Accounting or similar
*3+ years’ experience in a finance role (e.g. Management Accountant, Assistant FC, Cost Accountant, Audit Industry)
*Solid understanding of UK accounting practices
*Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
*Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or cost-driven environment is highly desirable
*Exposure to ERP systems (any platform) advantageous
*Studying towards ACCA / CIMA / ACA (or equivalent) is beneficial but not essential
