Job Description:
Job Title: Area Housing Manager (Temporary)
Function: Neighbourhoods
About the Role
We are recruiting a temporary Area Housing Manager to deliver high-quality tenancy and neighbourhood management services across approximately 5,500 general needs homes.
Reporting to the Operations Manager – Neighbourhoods, you will manage a team of Housing Officers covering the Plymouth patch, working closely with internal teams and external partners to sustain tenancies, manage risk and improve outcomes for customers and communities.
The role is hybrid, based from Exeter, with regular travel across Plymouth.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead and manage a team of Housing Officers to deliver effective tenancy and neighbourhood management
*Provide visible leadership, supporting performance, engagement and development
*Oversee tenancy management including ASB, safeguarding, hoarding, domestic abuse, tenancy fraud and unacceptable behaviour
*Manage risk and ensure compliance with legislation, policy and internal controls
*Resolve customer complaints within timescales and identify service improvements
*Work collaboratively with internal teams, local authorities and partner agencies
*Build strong external stakeholder relationships
*Use performance data and customer insight to drive continuous improvement
*Ensure fire and property safety actions are appropriately managed
*Contribute to policy development and neighbourhood service objectives
About the Candidate
Essential requirements:
*Proven experience leading teams within social housing or a related sector
*Strong tenancy and housing management knowledge
*Experience managing performance, change and service improvement
*Confident using KPIs, performance data and reports
*Good understanding of housing law and regulation
*Strong stakeholder engagement skills
*Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
*Basic DBS check required
Contract Details
*Hours: 37 per week (Monday to Friday)
*Contract length: Until end of May 2026
*Location: Exeter (with travel across Plymouth)
*Pay rate: £28.28 per hour PAYE
