Job Title: Communication Support Worker (BSL)
Location: Merseyside
Pay: £26+ per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours

About the role
As a Communication Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting Deaf, Deafened and Hard of Hearing students to fully engage with learning and college life.
Using your skills in British Sign Language, lip-speaking, note-taking and adapting learning materials, you will provide tailored support that meets individual learner needs and promotes independence.
Day to Day of the Role:
*Provide in-class and out-of-class communication support for Deaf, Deafened and Hard of Hearing students
*Adapt learning materials and classroom environments to ensure accessibility
*Encourage learner independence and the development of effective communication strategies
*Use and maintain specialist equipment to support learning
*Collaborate with tutors and the Additional Learning Support (ALS) team to remove barriers to learning
*Support learners during exams, academic reviews and safeguarding meetings
*Assist with enrolment and induction to ensure a smooth transition into college life
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or above
*Experience supporting individuals with hearing loss
*A clear understanding of, and commitment to, safeguarding
*GCSEs (A–C / Level 2) in English and Maths
*An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
