Reed Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a leading Engineering & Manufacturing company
The Role
We are recruiting a Production Controller on behalf of a well-established manufacturing organisation. This is a key planning role responsible for coordinating production schedules, materials, and logistics to ensure strong on-time delivery, lead-time adherence, and inventory control.
The successful candidate will work closely with operations, supply chain, and subcontractors to maintain smooth product flow and maximise plant utilisation.
Key Responsibilities
*Plan and schedule production using finite capacity models, product flow paths, and business plan volumes.
*Quote accurate lead times for new orders and manage priorities to minimise delays.
*Operate an effective pull system, utilising safety stock, buffers, and finished goods inventory.
*Generate and issue production schedules and supporting documentation including work-to lists, packing lists, export requests, and subcontractor paperwork.
*Manage arrears and implement burn-off profiles where required.
*Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure transactional accuracy and system compliance.
*Apply Material Review Planning methodologies to manage external inputs and supplier orders in line with the Master Production Schedule.
*Coordinate internal and external transport requirements, including export movements, to meet acknowledged delivery dates.
*Manage customer reschedules through the MPS and provide regular customer status updates.
*Monitor schedule adherence and escalate risks or delays through formal Production, Planning & Control (P,P&C) processes.
*Support management of subcontractors using performance metrics and scorecards.
*Contribute to Rough-Cut Capacity Planning and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
*Support KPI reporting and operational performance reviews.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
*Experience in production planning, scheduling, or production control within a manufacturing environment is essential
*Strong understanding of MPS, MRP, finite capacity planning, and pull systems would be advantageous
*Confident working cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and logistics teams
*Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Desirable:
*Experience managing subcontractors or external suppliers
*S&OP or capacity planning exposure
*ERP / MRP system experience
*Data-driven and KPI-focused mindset
