Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: Blackpool, Lancashire
Salary: Circa £30,000 (dependent on experience)
Company Overview
Our client is an established and reputable main contractor based in Lancashire, delivering a diverse range of construction projects including new builds, design & build (D&B), and refurbishments notably in the leisure sector. With a strong and growing pipeline of work, typically ranging from £500K to £2M, they are looking to expand their commercial team with the addition of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
Role Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a supportive and growing team. The role will offer exposure to a mix of estimating, buying support, and commercial duties, providing a well-rounded foundation for career development within the construction industry.
You will work closely with the commercial team, supporting the financial and contractual management of multiple projects while gaining hands-on experience across all stages of the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
*Assist with cost control, budgeting, and financial management across multiple projects
*Support the estimating and buying functions, including obtaining and reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotations
*Assist with procurement and negotiation to ensure best value and quality
*Support the preparation of cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial updates
*Work alongside senior team members to manage contracts and ensure compliance with terms
*Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
*Provide general commercial support across new build, refurbishment, and D&B projects
*Assist in monitoring project performance to ensure delivery on time and within budget
Key Requirements
*Ideally 1+ year experience in a Quantity Surveying or similar role
*Some exposure to estimating, buying, or commercial project support
*Understanding of construction processes, particularly within main contracting
*Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
*Good numerical and commercial awareness
*Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
*Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
