Senior Accountant & Operations Leader – Future Practice Director
Location: Salisbury / Wiltshire (office-based majority of the week)
Salary: £55,000 – £70,000+ DOE
Contract: Permanent
The Role
This is a senior leadership opportunity within an established independent accountancy practice entering a significant period of change and development.
The firm has a loyal client base and a committed team. What it now needs is a credible, hands-on leader to bring structure, raise standards, and provide consistent direction.
Working closely with the owner, you will take operational responsibility for the day-to-day running of the practice. This includes leading the team, addressing performance and people issues early, improving processes, and ensuring clients receive a consistently high-quality service.
There is a clear and realistic route to Directorship within 3–5 years, with genuine long-term ownership potential for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities
*Oversee high-level accounts, review, and advisory work
*Lead, develop, and manage the team, setting clear expectations
*Address performance and people issues proactively
*Manage workflow, deadlines, and quality control
*Improve processes, structure, and operational discipline
*Partner with the owner on strategy, growth, and succession planning
About You
*Fully qualified ACA / ACCA
*Strong post-qualification experience within practice
*Proven experience leading and managing teams
*Comfortable handling difficult conversations and change
*Trusted by clients and respected internally
*Motivated by leadership, progression, and long-term impact
This Role Is Not Suitable If You:
*Have only managed at junior level
*Want a purely technical role
*Are looking for remote-first working
*Prefer stability over challenge and accountability
