Job Title: Pastoral/Progress Coach
Location: South Yorkshire
Pay: £20+ per hour
Hours: Full Time

About the role
As a Progress Coach, you’ll be a key point of support for learners, helping them build resilience, stay engaged, and reach their potential. You’ll work collaboratively with tutors, support teams, and external agencies to ensure every learner receives the right guidance at the right time.

Day to Day of the Role
*Provide one-to-one and group support focused on personal development, attendance, motivation, and academic progress
*Monitor attendance and punctuality, identifying patterns and implementing improvement strategies
*Work closely with curriculum teams, safeguarding staff, and external partners to deliver holistic support
*Deliver workshops on topics such as mental health, time management, study skills, and wellbeing
*Maintain accurate and timely records of interventions, attendance, and learner progress
*Support learners in setting and achieving personal and academic goals
*Promote a positive, inclusive college culture where every learner feels valued and supported
Required Skills:
*Experience supporting young people in education, youth work, or a similar support setting
*Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport
*Understanding of safeguarding, mental health needs, and barriers to learning
*Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload
*A proactive, empathetic, and solution-focused approach
*A relevant qualification in education, counselling, youth work, or support (or willingness to work towards one)
*Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
*A DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
Reed Further Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment by completing mandatory training within 6 weeks of your first assignment and annually thereafter.
