Staff Professional Development Officer
Salary: £37,525–£39,605 | Contract: Permanent, Full-time (36.5 hours)
Location: Large well established college in Birmingham

One of the largest colleges in Birmingham is looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Staff Professional Development Officer to shape and deliver an outstanding Learning and Development experience across the College. This is a pivotal role within People Services, where you’ll act as a trusted expert and strategic partner, ensuring our workforce has the skills, confidence and capability to deliver excellence in education.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead the design, delivery and evaluation of the College’s annual Learning and Development Programme, aligned to strategic priorities
*Ensure new staff receive an exceptional onboarding experience, including systems and organisational induction
*Develop and deliver management and leadership development programmes, including coaching, mentoring and work shadowing
*Manage and deliver the New Manager Programme and soft-skills development for emerging leaders
*Lead training needs analysis across the College to inform priorities, planning and budget allocation
*Plan, manage and monitor the Learning and Development budget, ensuring value for money
*Oversee mentoring schemes for newly appointed managers
*Design and deliver innovative learning solutions, including blended learning and e-learning resources
*Keep up to date with best practice and emerging trends in Learning and Development, including AI and digital learning
*Manage College work experience programmes and external placements
*Oversee TTF funding and teacher development placements, ensuring contractual and professional requirements are met
*Line manage the Professional Development Co-ordinator
*Maintain accurate Learning and Development data, ensuring compliance through regular audits
*Produce impact reports for Senior Leadership Team and Governors
