Job Description:
A personal lines underwriting business is recruiting for an Accountant to strengthen its UK finance function.
Our client is looking for an accountant with insurance experience who is comfortable taking ownership of financial accounting, reporting and control. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on solving problems at their root, improving the way things are done, and delivering to deadlines.
You will work closely with the Head of Finance, taking the lead on business-as-usual activity and project work while also collaborating with and supporting the wider finance team. They need someone who can work independently, bring structure and rigor to their processes, and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo - whether that means streamlining a reconciliation or exploring how AI and automation can drive efficiency.
This role would suit someone who understands that finance operates to non-negotiable deadlines and is energised and adopts the pace and demands that come with that.
Candidates will ideally be qualified accountants (although this is not essential) with relevant experience in an insurance environment, have a strong understanding of a finance function including financial accounting and reporting, planning and forecasting, and finance operations, have proven ability to perform detailed reconciliations and conduct root-cause analysis to resolve issues effectively, and have a genuine interest in leveraging technology, including AI and automation, to enhance financial operations.
