Purpose & Scope of the Role
You will deliver specialist bat surveys, design mitigation, secure licences (BER and statutory), and produce high-quality technical reports and EIA/HRA chapters. Working within a multidisciplinary consultancy, you’ll support project bids, coordinate survey programmes (day and night), analyse data using modern survey technology and contribute to mitigation and roost creation solutions across diverse site types.

Your field expertise and technical judgement will directly shape project outcomes and regulatory compliance, safeguarding biodiversity while enabling development. You will raise technical standards across the team by sharing best practice, mentoring colleagues on licencing and survey technique, and helping expand the business’s bat capability nationally.
Core Capabilities
*Survey Design & Delivery
*Plan and execute complex daytime and nocturnal surveys, using advanced detection and analysis tools.
*Licensing & Mitigation
*Prepare and obtain mitigation licences (BER and statutory), design practical avoidance, mitigation and roost creation strategies.
*Data Analysis & Reporting
*Produce rigorous, defensible reports and EIA/HRA chapters; apply quality assurance to technical outputs.
*Project & Task Management
*Coordinate schedules, budgets and resources; manage tasks or full projects following Tetra Tech PM training.
*Mentoring & Technical Development
*Coach junior staff toward licencing goals, share emerging research and drive uptake of new survey techniques.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
Degree in a related discipline. Natural England Class 2 bat licence or equivalent (Scotland/Wales/NI/ROI). BER Registered Consultant or eligible/aspiring to register (Level 2-3 desirable). Full driving licence.
Working Environment
Flexible hybrid working with field travel as required. Location-agile role supported by remote IT systems; expect a mix of site, home and occasional office days to meet project and client needs.
