Job Description:

Are you a Lead Engineer who enjoys being on the shop floor, setting standards, and knowing your leadership makes a real impact every single day? In this role, you’ll take ownership of engineering support across production, ensuring plant and equipment perform safely, reliably, and efficiently in a fast-paced biscuit manufacturing environment.
You’ll lead by example, combining hands-on technical expertise with a proactive approach to planned maintenance and effective reactive fault-finding. By coordinating work, prioritising interventions, and supporting your team through complex breakdowns, you’ll play a critical role in minimising downtime and maintaining consistent production output.
Working closely with production, engineering management, and wider site teams, you’ll drive continual improvement in reliability, safety, hygiene, and product quality. You’ll be responsible for maintaining engineering standards, mentoring engineers, and ensuring best practice is followed at all times—particularly in a food manufacturing environment where attention to detail is essential.

*Resolve breakdowns swiftly, plan complex tasks effectively, and provide technical input to aid production decisions
*Maintain accurate documentation, handovers, and records while ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards
*Represent engineering in control meetings, escalate issues appropriately, and manage team absences and returns
*Perform qualified mechanical/electrical tasks and support the ongoing development of team skills.
Your Key Ingredients

*Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (food industry preferred)
*IOSH certification and food safety/hygiene qualification
