Job Description:
This is a permanent opportunity offering broad exposure across financial accounting, statutory reporting, and compliance, within a collaborative and supportive setting.
Working closely with the Lead Financial Accountant, you’ll contribute to the delivery of high-quality financial information, support audit processes, and help drive continuous improvement across financial systems and controls.
What you’ll do
• Take ownership of financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant accounting standards
• Prepare statutory accounts, including group and subsidiary reporting requirements
• Lead on balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and control account management
• Support external and internal audit processes, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring timely delivery of audit requirements
• Contribute to VAT, tax, and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant frameworks
• Maintain oversight of fixed assets, income recognition, and key financial areas in line with accounting policies
• Collaborate across departments to gather and validate financial information, ensuring strong financial control
• Support and promote adherence to financial policies, processes, and best practice across the organisation
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen controls
What you’ll need
• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) or equivalent experience
• Strong background in financial accounting and statutory reporting
• Essential: experience preparing financial statements under Charity SORP and/or Higher Education SORP
• Strong technical knowledge across financial controls, audit, and compliance
• Experience supporting or leading audit processes
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
• Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Experience working with financial systems and Microsoft Excel
