Caretaker within Housing Services
*Pay Rate: £14.47 per hour
*Location: Manchester City Council
*Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (6 months)
Manchester City Council is seeking a full-time Caretaker within Housing Services for a six-month temporary contract. This role is essential for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety across multiple sites, providing a responsive and customer-focused service to residents. The successful candidate will be a key holder responsible for the overall security and maintenance of the building(s).
Day-to-day of the role:
*Ensure the building(s) and grounds are cleaned and maintained to a high standard, including managing repairs in communal areas.
*Manage the health & safety of the building(s), ensuring that all relevant risk assessments are conducted.
*Provide a high-quality cleaning and janitorial service to all communal areas.
*Carry out regular inspections of general service areas and maintain safety records.
*Undertake continuous fire risk assessments and ensure that all checks are recorded.
*Follow up on repairs to ensure they are completed promptly, especially for disabled or elderly tenants or in cases of emergency.
*Maintain communal gardens and green spaces, and promote resident involvement in communal gardening.
*Act as a representative of Manchester City Council during major works, ensuring that work is completed with minimal disruption to residents.
*Maintain the forecourt, car park, and grounds of the building.
*Ensure bin areas are maintained to the highest standards and that bins are emptied regularly.
*Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing, and checks, and provide tenants with regular updates.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in facilities management or a similar caretaking role.
*Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
*Ability to manage multiple tasks and sites efficiently.
*Excellent communication and customer service skills.
*Responsible and reliable key holder.
*Basic DBS check will be required.
