You’ll be working for a Tier 1 highways contractor delivering inspection and maintenance services across the local highway network. The organisation operates at scale, with established systems, clear processes and long-term contracts, providing a stable pipeline of work and strong site support.
Your new role

As a Highways Safety Inspector, you’ll be responsible for inspecting the highway network and identifying safety issues to help keep road users safe.

You’ll be involved in:
*Carrying out highway safety inspections (walked, driven and some computer-based).
*Identifying and recording defects across roads, footways and other highway assets.
*Raising jobs for repairs and following them through the system.
*Reviewing and closing customer enquiries linked to inspections.
*Supporting enforcement activity where required, including issuing notices.
*Providing inspection records to support claims and attending court if needed.
*Working with maintenance, street works and inspection teams.
*Attending site visits and team meetings as required.
What you’ll need to succeed
*Previous experience in highway inspections or a similar highways role.
*A good understanding of common highway defects and safety risks.
*Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
*Knowledge of the local road network would be an advantage.
*Lantra and/or NRSWA qualifications
*A full UK driving licence is essential.
