This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is forward-thinking and tech-savvy to manage day-to-day bookkeeping while producing monthly management accounts.
Initially, the role will be hands-on with transactional finance. A core focus of this position is transformation; you will work closely with the internal Systems Manager to identify manual bottlenecks and implement automation. *Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and online payment platforms (PayPal, Shopify, Amazon, eBay)
*Identify and investigate data anomalies and unexpected variances
*Run payroll using Sage and manage pension/HMRC submissions
*Process Improvement: Identify manual or inefficient processes and implement automation to simplify workflows
*Support the Financial Controller by providing clear insights and reducing manual administrative tasks
Skills and Experience:
*Advanced Excel skills
*Proven experience in a Bookkeeping or Assistant / Management Accountant role
*Strong understanding of month-end processes, journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation), and reconciliations
*Experience preparing or contributing to management accounts
*Experience in e-commerce or high-volume transactional environments is desirable
*Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Brightpearl, Exact, or similar) is an advantage
*Exposure to process improvement or automation projects
*Must be highly detail-oriented with the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies
*Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
*A proactive, solutions-driven mindset with a positive attitude towards change
*Comfortable handling both transactional and higher-level finance work
This role is working Monday - Friday, 9.00 am - 5.00 pm. There is an option to work from home, potentially 2 days per week after the probation period
