Head of Organisational Capability
Warwick | Hybrid Working – 3 days in the office | Up to £90,000pa (dependent on experience)
About the role
At Calor, safety, performance and capability sit at the heart of everything we do. We are now recruiting a Head of Organisational Capability to provide senior functional leadership across leadership development, talent, succession planning and talent acquisition. This is a high-impact, company-wide role where you will work closely with our Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to ensure Calor has the right people, skills and leadership capacity to deliver our long-term strategy and manage seasonal operational demands safely and sustainably. You will shape how we build leadership pipelines, reduce key dependency risks and strengthen organisational readiness – combining strategic insight with operational delivery.
What you’ll be responsible for
As a key member of the People Leadership Team and Extended Leadership Team, you will:
* Lead the Talent Acquisition and Talent and Learning teams
* Lead and develop the Organisational Capability Team, setting clear direction, priorities and standards
* Design and govern Calor’s organisational capability and competence framework, with particular focus on safety-critical and key roles
* Own and deliver leadership development, including the Calor Leadership Pathway
* Lead talent management and succession planning for critical and senior roles
* Drive strategic workforce planning, translating business plans into clear capability, resourcing and talent actions
* Own Calor’s talent acquisition strategy and governance, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective recruitment
* Be accountable for training, learning and resourcing budgets, ensuring strong ROI and cost control
* Drive team and company performance using KPIs and action?
* Act as senior sign-off for external learning and recruitment partners
* Own the Performance Management framework and annual goal setting process
* Lead seasonal and high-risk resourcing plans (including winter workforce readiness)
* Champion continuous improvement, compliance and Visible Felt Leadership in support of Calor’s strong safety culture
About you
You will be a credible senior HR leader with the confidence and capability to operate at executive level. You’ll bring a strong blend of strategic thinking, commercial insight and delivery discipline, alongside a genuine passion for building capability and developing leaders.
You’ll ideally bring:
* CIPD Level 7 qualification (or equivalent postgraduate degree)
* Extensive senior experience across organisational capability, leadership development, talent and talent acquisition
* Proven track record of designing and embedding company-wide capability and talent processes
* Strong people leadership experience, including leading multi-disciplinary teams
* A proven track record of collaboration and bringing stakeholders together towards a common business aim
* Deep experience in data and insight-led decision making, workforce analytics and senior-level reporting
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with ELT/SLT credibility
* A commercial mindset with the ability to balance strategic intent and operational execution
* Sound knowledge of UK employment law, governance and HR compliance
* An adaptive, resilient leadership style with the courage to lead through ambiguity, complexity and change
