Job Description:
I’m supporting a leading Law firm who due to continued growth, are looking for an experienced and commercially aware Risk & Compliance Manager to join their expanding regional law firm.
This is a key role within the firm, responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of our risk and compliance framework. You will work closely with partners and lawyers across all practice areas, ensuring that regulatory requirements are understood, embedded and aligned with the firm’s commercial objectives.

The Role
You will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the firm’s core compliance processes, providing guidance to legal teams, and ensuring effective monitoring, reporting and risk mitigation across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
· Managing core compliance controls, including AML, conflicts, complaints and incident processes
· Responding to compliance queries and providing pragmatic, commercially sound guidance
· Maintaining risk registers and logs to ensure accurate oversight of incidents, breaches and complaints
· Investigating regulatory issues and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventative actions
· Managing and evolving the file review and audit programme to drive consistent quality standards and early risk identification
· Analysing audit findings to identify trends and deliver targeted risk mitigation and continuous improvement
· Supporting post-audit remediation with legal teams to ensure timely and sustainable resolution
· Assisting with regulatory reporting and notifications
· Producing management information and trend analysis for senior leadership and governance forums
· Delivering engaging compliance training and induction sessions
· Working collaboratively with onboarding, technology and client experience teams to streamline compliant and client-centred processes
· Building strong, two-way relationships with fee-earning teams to ensure compliance processes remain effective and aligned with business needs
· Supervising and developing junior team members
· Supporting insurer engagement and PII renewal activity
The ideal person, is someone who combines strong technical knowledge with sound judgement and excellent communication skills.
You will have:
· Proven risk and compliance experience within a UK law firm or similar regulated environment
· Strong working knowledge of AML requirements, complaints handling and regulatory obligations
· Experience managing incidents and breaches in a proportionate and controlled manner
· The confidence to influence partners and fee earners constructively
· Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail
· Experience supervising or mentoring junior colleagues
