Overview
We are working with a well established organisation who are seeking an experienced Payroll Supervisor to join their finance function on an interim basis.
This is a key role within a busy payroll team, reporting into the Payroll Manager and taking responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of both employee and subcontractor payrolls across weekly and monthly cycles.
The successful candidate will play a hands-on role ensuring payrolls are delivered accurately, on time, and in line with all statutory and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
*Supporting the Payroll Manager with the end-to-end processing of payroll
*Running weekly, monthly, PAYE and subcontractor payrolls
*Ensuring accurate processing of PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP and other statutory deductions
*Managing RTI submissions and HMRC compliance requirements
*Reviewing and checking payroll outputs to ensure accuracy and consistency
*Handling complex payroll queries and escalations
*Processing subcontractor payments and ensuring correct tax treatment where applicable
*Supporting reconciliations and month-end payroll reporting
*Ensuring all payroll deadlines are met across multiple payroll cycles
*Supporting continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls
About You
We are looking for a confident payroll professional who can operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and take ownership of multiple payroll streams.
You will have:
*Strong experience in end-to-end payroll processing
*Experience across weekly and monthly payroll cycles
*Experience managing PAYE and subcontractor payrolls
*Good understanding of HMRC legislation and RTI submissions
*Previous experience in a senior payroll or supervisory role (or ready to step up)
*Strong attention to detail and ability to work to strict deadlines
*Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Desirable Experience
*High volume payroll environment experience
*Exposure to subcontractor/CIS payroll processing
*Experience using systems such as Sage, ADP, IRIS or similar
*Experience supporting or reviewing junior payroll staff
