Job Description:
A long-established, family-run accountancy practice in Morpeth is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a close-knit environment and wants to play a key role in delivering high-quality service to a varied client base.
The Opportunity
Due to continued growth and internal team changes, the firm is looking for a capable Accounts Assistant who can confidently support across accounts, VAT, bookkeeping, and payroll. You’ll work closely with the Accounts Manager and business owner, contributing to a smooth and efficient service for clients.
Key Responsibilities
*Preparing statutory accounts for a range of clients
*Preparing and submitting VAT returns
*Assisting with bookkeeping tasks
*Supporting payroll processing
*Using a variety of accounting systems (including Sage, Xero, Excel, TaxCalc, BrightPay)
*Communicating with clients to gather information and resolve queries
*Working collaboratively with colleagues to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
*At least 5 years’ experience within an accountancy practice
*Strong knowledge of accounts preparation, VAT, and bookkeeping
*AAT Level 4 qualification with relevant post-qualification experience
*Confidence in communicating with clients and colleagues
*The ability to manage your workload and meet deadlines consistently
