Job Description:
An opportunity has arisen for a successful and expanding company, based in the Southwest of UK who is seeking to recruit an experience food product development scientist. The food product development professional responsible for creating and optimising formulations, particularly in syrups, sweeteners, and beverages. This role includes conducting sensory evaluations and supporting scale-up to manufacturing. It involves close collaboration with marketing, sales, suppliers, and quality teams, alongside maintaining strong laboratory practices, accurate technical documentation, and compliance with food safety standards.
Education
BSc or MSc in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
Experience
*Proven experience in food and beverage product development, including formulation and sensory evaluation.
*Experience working with flavored syrups, dessert sauces, beverages, or related products.
*Strong background in formulation and sensory analysis, with the ability to translate insights into actionable outcomes.
*Hands-on laboratory experience, including sample preparation, sensory panels, stability testing, and accurate data recording.
*Solid understanding of HACCP, food manufacturing processes, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.
*Ability to manage multiple development projects, laboratory activities, and client interactions effectively.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead laboratory-based formulation across sweeteners, beverages, and dessert sauces.
*Develop, optimise, and reformulate products in line with customer needs, marketing briefs, manufacturing capabilities, and cost targets.
*Design and evaluate bench-scale samples for internal and customer assessments.
*Conduct and interpret sensory (organoleptic) evaluations, translating findings into product development actions.
*Provide technical flavor and application recommendations to support product performance and business growth.
*Ensure compliance with GLP, GMP, food safety, and Health & Safety standards
