Job Description:
An exciting Managing Director level opportunity exists for an individual to work on a permanent basis in the London Branch to fulfil the role of an International Banker to grow the existing corporate client base and originate new opportunities between the UK, Europe and African corridor. This opportunity has arisen due to the ongoing growth in investment into Africa as well as ensuring we continue to entrench and grow our relationships with the multi-national corporates (MNC) active in Africa. MNC’s are a key strategic growth area for the wider group. CCG is the bank’s business development, origination and client relationship team within the Banking Division. This London based role forms part of the broader CCG Business unit, which is responsible for understanding client needs holistically and then working in partnership with the Treasury & Trade Solutions (TTS), Investment Banking Division (IBD) and Global Markets (GM) teams to deliver the optimal solutions to clients. Responsibility * CCG Bankers are required to deliver end-to-end solutions to the clients, with the objective of entrenching the firm as a key African relationship Bank to MNC’s in the UK and Europe by solving their Corporate and Investment Banking requirements in Africa. The appointed individual will require a detailed understanding of IBD, TTS and GM with a focus on innovating, originating and executing strategic transactions. * Will have responsibility for the effective management, growth, and profitability of clients within the agreed portfolio, a diverse portfolio background and experience in manufacturing (automotive & industrial) commodity traders (agriculture & minerals), technology and telecommunication. * Be the primary point of contact for a portfolio of UK and European clients partnering alongside the respective Banker and Sector Heads across Africa. The role is required to initiate and enable new business and maintain client relationships for the allocated portfolio of clients, to contribute to the Bank’s profitability, market share and competitive positioning. Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities * Understand and execute on the needs, demands, perceptions and banking behaviours of allocated client portfolio to ensure that the engagement and/or solutioning approach is deliberate. * Manage the development of client relationships by implementing and improving tactics that recognise client life cycle, satisfaction, and retention. This includes the co-ordination and deployment of specialised products and strategic partnerships with clients as required. * Ensure on-going monitoring of the client which may include annual credit and pricing reviews,covenant requirements, allocations, and review of facilities. * Contribute to the attainment of the CCG budget by formulating annual strategies for the allocated client portfolio and new business.Generates leads. * Lead the sales effort for all clients in portfolio. * Partners with the relevant role players in the bank to package the appropriate solutions for clients. * End-to-end management of the sales process, anticipating client needs and responding with innovative solutions to client’s emerging needs. * Participates in design sessions with all client interfacing teams in the CCG, BD & GM Business Units and provides insights from the voice of the client. * Contribute with relevant data & insights at the periodic strategy review & revision sessions. * Understand key competitors, global trends, sector dynamics and key macro environmental forces to analyse and identify Bank-wide client opportunities and challenges. This includes participation and involvement with industry/regulatory forums (where relevant). * Understand the critical micro-environmental impacts and relationships i.e., client performance trends, client financial data, competitive positioning in the sector, operations to identify relevant solution and client engagement tactics. * Understand the alignment of Company and Business Unit strategic objectives in relation to the broader Group strategies. * Understand the range of product and solutions offered by the Business Units and align Client Action Plans to Company, BU and client growth drivers. * Establish and maintain relationships with product partners to strengthen collaborative working relations to improve the effective and efficient execution of Client and Sector objectives in line with business requirements. * Work with data inputs e.g. MIS, call reports, Opportunity Tracker, and Client Manage multi-disciplinary projects to ensure successful deployment of origination, implementation, and retention initiatives. * Adhere to all operating standards by participating in the necessary internal governance structures. * Comply with all the requisite London based regulatory and governance requirements including the PRA & FCA regulatory requirements. Essential Qualifications and Experience Required Qualification - a relevant bachelor’s degree. * Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar client facing role. * Proficiency and experience in senior executive level Client Relationship Management * Knowledge of the Bank’s product set - Treasury, FX, Debt Capital Markets
