Job Description:
We are recruiting for a fast-growing business in Middlesbrough seeking an experienced Project Design Engineer to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of technically challenging structural projects from initial client award through to successful completion, working within a highly skilled engineering, design, and delivery environment.
This role covers the full project lifecycle, bridging design, fabrication, and site delivery to ensure efficient, high-quality outcomes. As the successful candidate, you will manage and coordinate projects from award through to handover, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure technical information is accurately interpreted and communicated. A strong understanding of structural steelwork and experience with technical drawings and models is essential.
Key Responsibilities
*Oversee projects from client award through to completion and handover
*Coordinate design, production, and installation activities
*Interpret project scope, specifications, and technical documentation
*Liaise with clients, engineers, draughting teams, and site personnel
*Work closely with site managers to ensure smooth project delivery
*Manage subcontractors and site teams when required
*Collaborate with procurement, workshop, and commercial teams
*Identify and resolve day-to-day project and technical issues
*Act as the main point of contact for site teams
*Ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements
*Coordinate material scheduling to ensure timely delivery to site
*Support the preparation and issuing of RAMS and early warning notices
Key Requirements
*Minimum 5 years’ experience in structural steel, fabrication, or construction environments
*Strong understanding of steel structures, drawings, and 3D modelling
*Proven experience managing projects from award to completion
*Ability to interpret technical specifications and client requirements
*Strong communication and coordination skills across multiple stakeholders
