Rate: Negotiable Day Rate – Inside IR35
Hybrid: Hybrid working with regular on-site presence required
An East Midlands Local Authority is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the safe, compliant, and high-quality delivery of electrical works across a diverse operational property portfolio. This is a hands-on technical engineering role suited to someone who can work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and add value immediately with minimal onboarding.
Key DutiesElectrical Compliance & Technical Delivery*Support the delivery of planned, reactive, and remedial electrical works across multiple operational sites
*Ensure all work aligns with statutory requirements, CDM regulations, and wider health & safety legislation
*Provide technical input into inspections, testing, installations, and lifecycle works
*Maintain safe systems of work and support consistent compliance across the estate
CAFM & Reporting*Maintain accurate and up-to-date information within CAFM systems
*Ensure all tasks, documents, certificates, and compliance evidence are recorded correctly
*Monitor progress of planned maintenance and remedial works
*Escalate risks, delays, and non-compliance where necessary
*Contribute to the improvement of workflows, reporting processes, and data quality
Project Support*Assist with electrical project delivery from initial scope through to handover
*Contribute to estimating, technical specifications, and resource planning
*Work closely with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to support safe and cost-effective delivery
*Support audits, inspections, and review meetings to maintain high compliance standards
Stakeholder, Contractor & Team Collaboration*Support the Electrical Services Manager and wider team in day-to-day operations
*Build effective working relationships with contractors, contributing to performance discussions and problem-solving
*Provide clear technical advice to colleagues, building users, and stakeholders
Documentation & Quality Assurance*Maintain technical documents, drawings, and compliance records to required standards
*Complete accurate risk assessments and uphold safe working practices
*Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism, customer service, and operational integrity
Requirements*Strong technical background in electrical systems within commercial or industrial environments
*Working knowledge of BS7671, BS5266, BS5839, and wider electrical safety legislation
*Ability to manage workload independently, working across multiple sites and meeting tight deadlines
*Experience using CAFM systems for scheduling, documentation, and compliance management
*Ability to interpret or produce basic AutoCAD drawings (desirable)
*Experience supporting electrical projects, CDM processes, and contractor supervision
*Strong communication skills with a commitment to high-quality customer engagement
*Full driving licence and willingness to travel across sites as needed
