Role: New Build Assistant
Salary: £24,000 - £26,000
Location: Selby, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full time, permanent
A growing legal practice in Selby is seeking a motivated Conveyancing Assistant to support its busy residential and new-build property teams. This is a client-facing role suited to someone who takes pride in offering a professional, friendly and efficient service.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work across a high-volume caseload, supporting fee earners and ensuring matters progress smoothly. Prior experience in conveyancing-particularly sales and purchases-is essential, as the firm is looking for someone who can step into the role with confidence from day one.

Key Responsibilities*
Opening new files and entering initial instructions into the case management system
*
Preparing standard letters and documents in line with team procedures
*
Updating case records as matters advance
*
Issuing contracts on sale files and assisting with replies to enquiries
*
Ordering searches and managing related documentation
*
Handling exchanges and associated paperwork
*
Preparing completion arrangements
*
Producing mortgage reports for clients
*
Managing incoming post and responding to telephone enquiries where appropriate
*
Supporting the office with filing, billing, photocopying, archiving, and general administrative tasks
Essential Skills*
Strong keyboard, literacy and numeracy skills
*
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
*
Excellent client-handling and communication abilities
*
Able to work well under pressure and manage competing deadlines
*
Flexible, adaptable, and capable of working independently as well as within a team
*
Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach
Experience Required*
At least 12 months’ experience in conveyancing, specifically residential sales and purchases
*Experience working in a fast-paced environment
