We are supporting a client in Cambridgeshire in the appointment of a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial function.
This is a full-time role with full benefits package

Role Overview for Senior Quantity Surveyor
The successful candidate will play a central role in preparing tender documentation and supporting commercial decision-making across a range of civil engineering and telecommunications-related projects. The position requires a strong understanding of project costing, market capability and delivery capacity. Experience within solar or BESS projects is advantageous. Advanced Excel skills are essential.
Key responsibilities include overseeing project budgets, managing subcontractor relationships, negotiating contractual terms, and administering contract processes such as variations, early warnings and risk assessments. The role also involves producing commercial reports, including monthly CVRs, and maintaining regular communication with clients and project teams.

Key Responsibilities for Senior Quantity Surveyor
*Review contracts and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
Provide guidance on contractual matters, including change control, claims and valuations.
*Act as the commercial point of contact for the project delivery team.
Support the creation of tenders, budgets, bills of quantities and associated documentation.
Monitor design or scope changes and update financial forecasts accordingly.
Required Skills & Competencies for Senior Quantity Surveyor
*Strong organisational and project management abilities, with the capacity to work to strict deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple complex bids simultaneously.
Solid financial and commercial awareness, with a clear understanding of pricing, cost control and profit.
Familiarity with core contract terminology.
High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate outputs.
Confident communicator capable of building strong client relationships.
Able to make sound decisions under pressure and adapt quickly when required.
Strong numerical and analytical capability to support commercial judgement.
Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide others.
Calm, consistent performance during demanding periods.
Professional Background & Qualifications for Senior Quantity Surveyor
*Ideally educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
RICS-accredited undergraduate or postgraduate qualification preferred.
*Experience within civil engineering, telecoms or utilities sectors is desirable.
*Knowledge of NEC contract forms is required.
