Job Title: Lead Mechanical Fitter
Pay Rate: £19.75 per hour
Job Type: Full-time / Permanent
About the Company:
We are a globally recognised engineering company with a strong presence in the nuclear and oil & gas sectors. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Lead Mechanical Fitter to join our skilled team.
About the Role:
As a Lead Mechanical Fitter, you will take a hands-on role in the overhaul, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of rotating equipment. You will also support and guide other fitters, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
*Overhaul and service rotating equipment including pumps, valves, and gearboxes
*Strip, inspect, and rebuild 3-phase electric motors
*Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs
*Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
*Lead and support a team of mechanical fitters on site
*Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards
*Complete job reports and documentation accurately
Requirements:
*Time-served Mechanical Fitter with a completed apprenticeship
*Proven experience in a lead or supervisory role
*Strong background working with rotating equipment, pumps, valves, and motors
*Experience within nuclear, oil & gas, or heavy engineering environments (highly desirable)
*Ability to read and understand technical drawings
*Strong leadership and communication skills
*Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
