Job Title: Category Procurement Manager – Polymers
Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 + benefits
Location: South Yorkshire - Flexible / Hybrid
Category Spend Responsibility: ~ £80 million
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Category Procurement Manager to lead our global polymers category, managing an annual spend of approximately £80 million. This is a high-impact role responsible for developing and executing category strategies that deliver value, innovation, and supply security across a complex and dynamic market.
Key Responsibilities
*Develop and implement a comprehensive category strategy for polymers aligned with business objectives
*Manage end-to-end procurement activities including sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management
*Deliver cost savings, cost avoidance, and value creation initiatives across the category
*Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders
*Monitor market trends, risks, and opportunities within the polymers sector
*Drive supplier performance through KPIs, continuous improvement, and innovation initiatives
*Ensure compliance with procurement policies, sustainability goals, and risk management frameworks
About You
*Proven experience in procurement or category management, ideally within polymers, chemicals, or related industries
*Strong commercial acumen with a track record of managing large polymer or Resin spend categories (preferably £50m+) both virgin & recycled materials
*Skilled negotiator with experience managing strategic supplier relationships
*Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data and translate insights into action
*Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
*Degree qualified in a relevant field (e.g., Supply Chain, Business, Engineering) or equivalent experience
*CIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable
