A forward-thinking SEND school in St Helens is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support students aged 16+. This is a unique opportunity to work in a vibrant, inclusive setting where students not only focus on academics but also gain real-world experiences through initiatives like running a café and shop, landscaping, animal management, and supported work placements.

You will provide vital 1:1 support, helping students access learning, build independence, and succeed both in and outside the classroom.


What You’ll Be Doing

Deliver 1:1 support for students aged 16+ with ASD and additional SEND needs.
Assist students in academic lessons and practical activities such as café/shop operations, landscaping, animal care, and work placements.
Promote independence, life skills, and confidence.
Help create a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment.
Collaborate closely with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals to tailor support to individual student needs.
Encourage positive social interaction, emotional regulation, and practical skill development.


Who We’re Looking For

Experience supporting SEND students, ideally in a school, college, care, residential, or youth work setting.
Patient, compassionate, and flexible with a strong passion for helping young people succeed.
Skilled in building trusting relationships and adapting support to individual needs.
Reliable, proactive, and fully committed to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
Must hold, or be willing to apply for, an Enhanced DBS check.
