Job Description:
A well-established, independently owned accountancy practice in Preston is looking to appoint an experienced Accountant to join their close-knit team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a smaller firm environment where you’re not just a number — you’ll have real autonomy, direct client exposure, and the chance to genuinely make an impact.
The Role
You’ll be managing your own portfolio of clients, working closely with senior leadership and supporting the day-to-day running of the office.
Responsibilities include:
*Managing a portfolio of clients
*Accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
*Bookkeeping and VAT returns
*Preparing basic personal and corporate tax returns
*Liaising directly with clients and handling queries
*Supporting the wider team and office operations
The Ideal Candidate
*Strong experience working within an accountancy practice
*Confident preparing accounts, VAT and bookkeeping
*Experience with software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and Excel
*Comfortable managing client relationships
*Reliable, personable and looking for a long-term move
Why Apply?
*Long-established, stable firm with an excellent reputation
*Low staff turnover — people tend to stay
*Friendly, down-to-earth team environment
*Real autonomy and client ownership
*Competitive salary + discretionary bonus
*Free onsite parking
*Regular team socials and days out
*Early finish on Fridays
This role would suit someone who values stability, culture and being part of a genuinely supportive team — without the pressure and politics of larger firms.
