Claims Handler (EL/PL) | Bradford | Hybrid Working |
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Claims Handler to join a modern, ambitious, and commercially focused law firm based in Bradford. This is a fantastic role for someone with at least 18 months’ experience who is looking to develop their career within a busy and supportive defendant insurance team.
You will be joining a forward-thinking firm that acts for a wide range of clients, from individual entrepreneurs and small businesses through to some of the UK’s most recognised brands. The team is known for its straight-talking, pragmatic approach and commitment to delivering excellent client service.
The Role
This is a hands-on, fee-earning position within a busy pre-litigation team, handling defendant EL/PL claims (primarily personal injury matters) from inception up to litigation.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing a caseload of pre-litigation EL/PL claims, ideally with a retail focus
* Using the MOJ EL/PL Portal effectively
* Communicating with opponents, experts, insurers, statutory bodies, and clients via email, telephone
* Negotiating liability and quantum settlements
* Pursuing recovery of client losses from third parties where appropriate
* Maintaining accurate claims, reserve, and risk information
* Ensuring compliance with internal, client, and procedural protocols
* Delivering high levels of client care and customer service, including to litigants in person
About You
* Minimum 18 months’ experience in claims handling or defendant insurance work
* EL/PL experience is highly desirable, but other defendant backgrounds will be considered
* Confident using claims systems and the MOJ Portal
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Methodical, organised, and process-driven approach to work
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
* Strong negotiation skills with an understanding of liability and quantum
* IT literate with good attention to detail
* Enthusiastic, proactive, and willing to learn
* Strong focus on delivering excellent client service
