Job Description:
The Greater London Authority is seeking an experienced Business Manager to support its Facilities, Security and Events function on an initial three-month contract. This is an ideal opportunity for a capable and adaptable business management professional who enjoys operating at the heart of a complex organisation, ensuring that strategic, governance and people-related activity run smoothly and effectively.
3-month contract
Hybrid working (3 days per week in the office)
Pay rate: £28.42 per hour via PAYE or £37 per hour via Umbrella
This role is not operational facilities management. Instead, it sits at the centre of the function, providing oversight, coordination and business leadership across a wide-ranging portfolio. The Business Manager acts as the ’engine room’ of the team, ensuring plans, data, budgets and stakeholder relationships are aligned and working together.
Reporting to the Head of Facilities Management, the post holder will support strategic and business improvement activity, oversee financial and budgetary processes, and ensure strong governance across key areas such as information management, equality, diversity and inclusion, training and security planning. You will play a key role in maintaining corporate records and data governance standards, supporting compliance and consistency across the function.
The role will also involve managing and coordinating relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including landlords, user groups and internal teams. You will act as a central point of contact for enquiries and issues, supporting the handling of complaints and complex stakeholder matters, including those arising from high-profile events and public activity in central London locations.
A key piece of ongoing work within the role includes supporting office relocation moves, including the transition to the TfL Palaestra office, ensuring plans are joined up and well communicated.
This opportunity would suit a strong Business Manager with transferable skills from a corporate, public sector or regulated environment. Previous facilities experience is not required; instead, the GLA is looking for someone with excellent coordination, stakeholder engagement, governance and planning capabilities, who can quickly understand the landscape and add value.
Key elements of the role include:
*Providing business management support across Facilities, Security and Events, ensuring effective coordination rather than operational delivery
*Supporting strategic planning, business improvement activity, and financial oversight, including budgets and forecasting
*Maintaining strong data governance, corporate records management and information governance standards
*Supporting equality, diversity and inclusion activity, training plans and security planning
*Managing complex stakeholder relationships, including landlords, internal teams and user groups
*Acting as a central coordination point for issues, queries and complaints related to facilities, events and public-facing spaces
*Supporting office relocation and change activity, working closely with multiple stakeholders
If you are a proactive, organised and confident Business Manager looking to apply your skills within the Greater London Authority, we would welcome your application.
