Head of English - Leadership Scale - Brent - September 2026
Are you an Outstanding Head of English, looking for a new Head of English position?
Perhaps you’re already 2iC or KS Coordinator, looking to step up into your first HOD role?
In either case, this ’Good’ graded Secondary School in Brent want to hear from you. The school has gone through a period of positive change in the past two years, resulting in a better Ofsted inspection, greater staff retention and increased career development opportunities.
The Senior Leadership Team are looking for an exceptional practitioner to lead the English department. You will be tasked with raising standards of attainment and achievement, monitoring pupil progress, formulating the faculty improvement plan and leading the development of English and it’s delivery. Moreover, you will be an excellent English Teacher that leads by example, serving as an exceptional role model for high quality teaching and learning.
Ideally you will have completed some NPQs and be ready to step into this role in September, although they are not essential. Again, you will ideally have KS5 experience but an exceptional English Teacher for 11-16 is urged to apply.

*Experience teaching in UK Inner City Schools beneficial
*Proven success in raising attainment across the board
*Keen interest in utilising ICT
*Experience of embedding strategies for Assessment for Learning
*Prior middle leadership experience i.e 2iC, KS Coordinator or current HOD.
*Strong academic background desired.
