Teacher of History Location: Bridgwater, Somerset
Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term (Parental Leave Cover)
Salary: Qualified Teachers’ Pay Scale
Start Date: May 2026 (until December 2026)
Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in the Bridgwater area to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of History for a fixed-term position covering parental leave.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive school environment with a strong commitment to high-quality teaching, learning, and staff development.
The RoleThe successful candidate will deliver engaging and high-quality History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to develop curiosity, critical thinking skills, and a strong understanding of the past.
This role would suit both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are passionate about History and committed to student progress.
Key Responsibilities*Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured History lessons
*Inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential
*Assess, track, and support pupil progress effectively
*Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning
*Contribute positively to the wider Humanities department
*Support the academic and personal development of students
The Ideal Candidate*Holds a relevant degree in History
*Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
*Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for History
*Is committed to high standards of teaching and learning
*Works well collaboratively as part of a team
*Is open to professional development and reflective practice
