Job Description:
Full job descriptionA well-regarded secondary school in Waltham Forest is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This opportunity is ideally suited to graduates who are considering a career in teaching and are looking to gain meaningful classroom experience before undertaking a PGCE, School Direct, or SCITT programme.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, contributing to both their academic progress and personal development. The school is known for its supportive leadership, structured behaviour systems, and strong mentoring culture-providing an excellent foundation for those looking to enter the teaching profession.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide in-class support to students across a range of subjects
* Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions
* Assist with lesson preparation and daily classroom routines
* Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and student confidence
* Develop an understanding of planning, assessment, and classroom management
The Ideal Candidate:
* A graduate in any subject area
* A genuine interest in progressing into teaching or education
* Confident, professional, and enthusiastic when working with young people
* Previous experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, coaching) is advantageous but not essential
This role offers excellent preparation for teacher training applications, alongside the opportunity to gain valuable school-based experience and strong professional references.
