Science Lab Technician Job Vacancy - Blackburn, Lancashire (ASAP)Are you a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with a passion for science? We’re seeking a dedicated Science Lab Technician to provide critical technical support to our dynamic Science Department in Blackburn. This role is a central part of our team, ensuring that our students and teaching staff have a safe, well-equipped, and efficient environment for all practical work.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Science Lab Technician, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that keep our labs running smoothly. Your key duties will include:
*Lab Preparation: Preparing and setting up apparatus, components, and chemical solutions for classroom demonstrations, practical lessons, and examinations.

*Maintenance & Safety: Ensuring all equipment, chemicals, and materials are stored safely and securely. You will perform minor repairs, assist in the construction of apparatus, and be a key player in maintaining a safe working environment.

*Stock Management: Taking charge of stock levels, ordering new supplies, and maintaining a detailed inventory. You will also assist with the annual audit of science equipment.

*Health & Safety Compliance: Adhering to all health and safety procedures, conducting risk assessments for technical activities, and ensuring the safe disposal of residues and hazardous materials.

*General Support: Assisting with general departmental tasks, including the maintenance of laboratories and preparation rooms, and providing support for out-of-school learning activities.

We are seeking a candidate who is highly motivated, proactive, and has a meticulous eye for detail. The ideal applicant will have:
*A background in science, with an understanding of laboratory practices.

*Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

*A firm grasp of health and safety protocols within a laboratory setting.

*Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both teaching staff and students.

*A willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of a busy school environment.

While a formal qualification is not essential, we are looking for a candidate with practical experience in this field.
