A Wembley-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Social Housing Assessment & Lettings Officer to join their team on a temporary contract until August, with the potential for extension.
This is a full-time role (Monday to Friday), operating on a hybrid basis with 3 days per week in the office.
Pay Rates
*£21.41 per hour (PAYE)
*£28.19 per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities
*Carry out housing needs assessments in line with housing legislation and local authority policy
*Assess applications for social housing, including eligibility, priority and banding
*Manage a caseload of applicants and provide clear advice on housing options
*Allocate properties in accordance with the housing allocations scheme
*Liaise with applicants, internal teams, housing providers and external agencies
*Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with data protection requirements
*Respond to enquiries and appeals in a timely and professional manner
*Contribute to service improvement and performance targets
Essential Experience & Requirements
*Previous experience in housing assessments, allocations or lettings within a local authority or social housing environment
*Good understanding of housing legislation, homelessness duties and allocations schemes
*Experience managing complex caseloads and working to deadlines
*Strong customer service and communication skills
*Ability to make sound decisions and explain outcomes clearly to customers
*Confident IT skills and experience using housing management systems
*Standard DBS check required
