*Annual Salary: £26.5k - £28.5k
*Location: Wallsend
*Job Type: Full-time, Mon-Thurs, 9am to 5pm, and Fri, 9am to 3pm.
My client is seeking a Payroll Assistant to manage end-to-end processing for weekly and monthly payroll cycles. This role requires a meticulous individual with a strong understanding of payroll systems and compliance, who can handle payroll administration efficiently while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Manage the complete processing cycle for weekly and monthly payrolls.
*Generate and distribute payslips and finalise payroll.
*Handle all payroll-related administration, including setting up payments and maintaining accurate payroll records.
*Perform data entry tasks using payroll software with high accuracy.
*Ensure compliance with HMRC submissions, tax code changes, pension auto-enrolment, and other regulatory requirements.
*Collaborate with team members to maintain accurate payroll records.
*Record statutory sick pay (SSP), statutory maternity pay (SMP), holiday entitlements, and accruals accurately.
*Maintain records in compliance with company procedures for audits and legal requirements.
*Understand and adhere to GDPR compliance and confidentiality requirements.
*Perform ad hoc payroll administrative tasks, such as writing letters and liaising with HR for administrative support.
*Undertake any other duties as requested by management within the business and finance department.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience with computerised payroll/accounts systems.
*Proven knowledge of both manual and computerised payroll processes.
*Experience working to tight deadlines.
*Proficiency in database and spreadsheet applications.
*Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
*Excellent attention to detail and commitment to meet strict deadlines.
*Desirable: Payroll qualification or significant experience in payroll processing.
*Desirable: Experience in subcontractor processing and HR administration support.
