Are you an experienced transport leader who thrives in a fast-paced, operationally critical environment? Do you enjoy supporting a 2-person, white-glove home delivery service—leading drivers, managing compliance and keeping deliveries moving on time and in full?


At GXO, we’re recruiting a Transport Shift Manager to support our 2-person home delivery solution for the Wickes operation at Portbury working Tuesday to Saturday, 08:00 – 16:00. This is a hands-on leadership role within a small, close-knit transport team. You’ll lead from the front, setting standards on safety, service and compliance, while working closely with warehouse, planning, customer teams and wider support functions to protect performance and deliver a great customer experience.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £33,000 per annum depending on experience, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts


What you’ll do on a typical day:


*Lead, motivate and support drivers both on-site and remotely to achieve planned targets and service KPIs
*Ensure transport operations comply with drivers’ hours, WTD, tachograph and road traffic legislation
*Deliver daily driver briefings and debriefs, communicating performance, safety updates and operational priorities
*Manage absences, agency resource and driver conduct, including performance and people management actions
*Promote safe driver behaviours, near-miss reporting and a strong health & safety culture


What you need to succeed at GXO:


*Previous experience in a transport or fleet management role
*Ideally experience in 2-person home delivery (or ready to step up and develop into your next role)
*Strong working knowledge of transport legislation and compliance (Drivers’ Hours, WTD, tachographs)
*Confident, practical leadership style—able to engage teams, set clear standards and challenge when needed
*Strong communication and organisation skills; able to coordinate across multiple teams and priorities
