Full job descriptionAn established and progressive environmental consultancy is seeking an Ecologist to join its expanding team in the North East. This role offers the chance to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting developments from initial planning stages through to implementation and ongoing environmental management.
The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team delivering ecological expertise across a variety of sectors. Project work spans residential and mixed-use developments, major infrastructure, renewable energy schemes, green infrastructure, and large-scale habitat and nature recovery initiatives.

Key responsibilities will include:
*Undertaking Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs)

*Delivering Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs)

*Supporting Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and strategies

*Carrying out protected species surveys (such as bats, great crested newts, birds, and reptiles)

*Conducting habitat surveys and condition assessments

*Assisting in the preparation of mitigation, enhancement, and long-term management plans



The ideal candidate will have:
*A degree in Ecology or a related discipline

*Practical field survey experience and knowledge of UK wildlife legislation

*Strong report writing skills with attention to detail

*A full UK driving licence

*A proactive, organised approach and a genuine enthusiasm for ecology
