Full job descriptionOperations & Manufacturing Manager – Fertiliser Production
Our client is a well-established UK fertiliser manufacturing and spreading business seeking an experienced Operations & Manufacturing Manager to support the day-to-day running of fertiliser production, machinery operations, and equipment maintenance across the business.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong agricultural or industrial machinery experience who is comfortable working both within a production environment and out in the field during seasonal spreading operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring manufacturing equipment, spreading machinery, and operational processes are maintained to a high standard to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
The position requires a practical, mechanically minded individual with strong operational awareness, the ability to maintain and troubleshoot machinery, and a proactive approach to production and equipment reliability.
Key Responsibilities*Support the day-to-day operation of fertiliser manufacturing and production activities
*Operate and oversee agricultural and production machinery safely and efficiently
*Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, and upkeep of fertiliser manufacturing equipment and spreading machinery
*Identify mechanical faults and carry out minor repairs to minimise operational downtime
*Ensure machinery is properly calibrated, maintained, and operating at optimum performance levels
*Assist with machinery preparation during peak fertiliser production and spreading periods
*Operate tractor and trailed disc fertiliser spreader during seasonal operations when required
*Maintain accurate application rates and ensure precise fertiliser spreading standards
*Conduct daily machinery inspections and preventative maintenance checks
*Work closely with the wider operations team to ensure smooth manufacturing and field operations
*Maintain high standards of health & safety, housekeeping, and professionalism across all sites
What Our Client is Looking For*Strong experience operating and maintaining agricultural or industrial machinery
*Excellent mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues
*Experience working within manufacturing, agricultural operations, or heavy machinery environments
*Confident working independently and managing operational responsibilities
*Practical and hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
*Reliable and adaptable, particularly during seasonal peak periods
*Experienced tractor operator with good machinery handling skills
Desirable (Not Essential)*Fertiliser manufacturing or spreading experience
*Agricultural contracting or production background
*Welding, fabrication, or workshop maintenance experience
*Experience with GPS-guided or modern spreading systems
*Knowledge of preventative maintenance schedules and machinery servicing
Working Pattern*Seasonal peak periods during spring and autumn with increased hours
*Mixture of manufacturing, workshop, and field-based responsibilities
