Full job descriptionA number of friendly and supportive primary schools across the Wigan and Warrington area are currently seeking experienced Teaching Assistants to join their teams on a full-time, part-time, and long-term basis. These opportunities are ideal for candidates who are confident working across the primary age range and are looking for flexible work or a more consistent role within a school setting.
Roles are available for immediate start and for future terms, supporting pupils from EYFS through to Year 6. Schools are particularly keen to hear from Teaching Assistants who can adapt to different classroom environments and provide high-quality support across a range of abilities.
The successful candidates will play an important role in supporting teaching and learning, working closely with class teachers to deliver targeted support, lead small group activities, and provide 1:1 assistance where required. A background in phonics delivery and supporting children with early reading is essential, along with experience helping pupils prepare for KS1 and KS2 SATs, including intervention work to raise attainment.
You will be joining schools that value teamwork and consistency, with clear routines and supportive leadership in place to help you succeed in your role.
To be considered, you will need:
*Proven experience working within a UK primary school as a Teaching Assistant
*Confidence supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
*Practical experience delivering phonics sessions and supporting reading development
*Experience contributing to SATs preparation and intervention support
*A flexible, reliable and proactive approach to supporting children’s learning
