Job Description:
Hays Education are supporting a small Special Needs school in recruiting a temporary senior member of staff to work with them for the rest of the academic year. The details are as follows:
*The school is approximately a 10-15-minute drive from Birmingham City Centre and is a small school with approximately 50 children on roll
*The school describe themselves as a focussed and dedicated school who have young people at the centre of their ethos
*The school caters for children at KS4 level with social, emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH)
*The role is to start as soon as possible and is on a temporary term time only time sheet basis; pay will be at MPS/UPS with TRL and SEN point
*The role entails the following three key areas:
*Pastoral Lead: overseeing members of staff who are responsible for attendance and home school visits as well as liaising with the school’s DSL over child protection and safeguarding concerns. There will also be involvement in meetings with parents.
*Staff Leadership: Taking the lead in guiding and supporting the school’s small Teaching Assistant Team, providing coaching and training for classroom practice and improvement in performance
*Teaching Responsibilities: There will be a small amount of class teaching as and when required and work will be set and the member of staff supported if it is outside of their subject area
*The successful candidate will have experience of working with children with challenging behaviour and SEMH
*You will be able to demonstrate the key competencies of working with children with SEMH and also de-escalation techniques
*The person concerned must have the appropriate knowledge and experience of ensuring Child Protection and Safeguarding
*The school will be expanding upon their capacity for the new academic year and there may well be a permanent post that any temporary member of staff can apply for
