We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Engineering Geologist to join a growing and well-respected ground investigation consultancy working across Essex and the wider South East. Based near Colchester, this role offers the chance to work on a broad range of residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects across the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a geology graduate or early-career Engineering Geologist looking to gain hands-on experience and progress within a supportive and technically strong team.
The Role
You will play a key role in delivering ground investigation projects across Essex, splitting your time between site and office-based work.
Key Responsibilities
*Supervising ground investigations including trial pits and boreholes
*Logging soils and rocks in accordance with BS5930
*Soil and groundwater sampling and monitoring
*Overseeing drilling contractors on site
*Preparing factual and interpretative reports
*Supporting geotechnical and geoenvironmental assessments
*Maintaining high health & safety standards
Requirements
*Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or similar
*1-4 years’ experience in ground investigation
*Strong understanding of site investigation techniques
*Full UK driving licence
*Good communication and report writing skills
Desirable
*Experience working on projects across Essex / South East
*Phase 1 & Phase 2 reporting experience
*Knowledge of contaminated land risk assessments
*Working towards Chartership
