Job Description:
Full job descriptionThis is an excellent opportunity for an underwriter looking to further develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.
This opportunity would particularly suit individuals with underwriting experience across personal lines or other insurance product classes, as well as candidates with delegated authority broking experience looking to transition further into underwriting.
You’ll be working across non-standard household risks whilst also gaining exposure to travel underwriting referrals, product governance, and underwriting analysis. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone looking to broaden their underwriting expertise and develop within a growing and ambitious business.
The company is highly supportive of product training across both home and travel insurance. Candidates with underwriting experience across other insurance product lines will still be considered, particularly if they are keen to expand their technical underwriting knowledge and diversify into these product areas.
The role is currently fully remote, with one in-person team meet-up each month. As the business continues to grow, there are long-term plans to establish a Manchester office and transition towards a hybrid working model.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Assessing new business and renewal home insurance risks
• Analysing non-standard risk factors including claims history, property type, construction, and exposure
• Making underwriting decisions within delegated authority levels
• Supporting travel underwriting referrals and underwriting queries
• Assisting with product governance and Consumer Duty monitoring
• Building strong relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders
• Supporting senior underwriters and continuing to develop technical underwriting skills
• Contributing to underwriting strategy, process improvements, and portfolio performance
Who We’re Looking For
We’re open-minded — attitude, potential, and willingness to learn are just as important as direct product experience.
You could be:
• An Underwriter or Assistant Underwriter with around 2 years’ experience
• Working within personal lines, delegated authority, commercial lines, or another insurance product area
• Someone with exposure to non-standard risks (ideal but not essential)
• From a delegated authority broking background with strong underwriting exposure
• Experienced within new business underwriting (a strong advantage)
Most importantly, you’ll be analytical, motivated, personable, and keen to continue developing your underwriting career.
Why This Role Stands Out
• Genuine training and long-term career progression
• Strong support across both home and travel insurance products
• Remote-first working with future hybrid flexibility
• Exposure to complex and interesting underwriting risks
• Collaborative and knowledgeable team environment
• Opportunity to join a growing MGA during an exciting stage of expansion and product growth
Benefits
• Competitive starting salary
• Full support for professional insurance qualifications
• 22 days holiday (increasing with service)
• Pension scheme
• Death in service benefit
• Travel insurance
• Employee Assistance Programme
• Regular social events and staff incentives
