We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in North West London.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them achieve both academically and personally.
About the RoleAs an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties, autism, ADHD, trauma-related needs, or additional learning barriers.
You will support students both inside and outside the classroom, helping to create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities*Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
*Build strong, positive relationships with students
*Support behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation
*Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
*Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
*Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff
Requirements*Previous experience working with children or young people preferred
*Experience supporting SEMH, SEN, ASD, ADHD, or behavioural needs desirable
*Calm, patient, and resilient approach
*Strong communication and teamwork skills
*Passion for supporting vulnerable young people
*Team Teach or behaviour management training advantageous but not essential
